Occupational First Aid Refresher Course

In September 2008 the new act governing all occupational First Aid came into force. This act fall under the Safety, Health and Welfare at work (General Application) Regulations 2007 (S.I No.200 of 2007), and states that an OFA certificate is now valid for two year period (not three as in the case of previous certificate).
All OFA Programmes are now FETAC Certified and successful candidates are awarded a Level 5 FETAC Component Certificate in Occupational First Aid.

There are a number of changes to the new OFA syllabus the most significant of which are changes in the administration of CPR and training in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED's).

In order to retain your existing certification, you must attend a one day refresher course within 3 months of the expired date of your certification. This couse is a synopsis of your previous training and includes the new elements. 

Course Outline:

  • Patient Assessment
  • Respiratory Emergencies
  • Wounds and Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Altered Levels of Consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Electric Shock
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
The course will also include training in the use of Defibrillators and the administration of Aspirin.

Certification:

FETAC Level 5 Certificate

Note:

 Candidates who's OFA Certificate has expired for grater than 3 months must retake the full 3 day OFA course

Cost:

 €160    (Including FETAC Registration fee)
